AEB: Russia’s new car, LCV sales fall 5.7% to 148,676 units Mar
MOSCOW, Apr 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s sales of new light cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) fell 5.7% on the year to 148,676 units in March, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said on Tuesday.
In January–March, sales fell 2.8% on the year to 387,322 units.
"It is obvious that the next couple of months will remedy the situation and the market will demonstrate growth, because we will compare results of the nearest months with the worst ever months in the automobile industry linked with business limitations due to the coronavirus pandemic," Thomas Staertzel, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee, said as quoted by the AEB.
"In general, the market situation is of no surprise. Purchase interest slightly decreases while prices increase, in some cases there is still a deficit in offer of certain models. Uncertainty with the disposal fee increase does not help the market either. The mass segment is slowing down most of all," he said.
